Usage Tips & In-Depth Analysis:
Daiyan is a new ATK-based sniper who will release with her own mini-event on 2022-01-25.
While her damage output is not bad, her main selling point is her ability to allow other dolls to crit with their skills.
If you didn't know already, skills don't crit by default unless it says so in their description (for example, Lam, Simo, and Aki can inherently crit, while Kuro, Max, and Hubble don't crit with their skills).
Some of the most powerful skills in the game cannot crit by default (for example, Kuro's Auto Skill with its 1520% Hashrate ratio), but providing Daiyan's buff to Kuro will allow it to crit and skyrocket Kuro's DPS, as crit scaling is a massive multiplier that Kuro's skill doesn't normally have access to.
Daiyan's unique [Concordia] buff enables a lot of novel and powerful team compositions, both currently and in the future, that can pretty much allow a single team to autopilot carry through all content due to their insane damage potential. If you're interested in seeing insane damage numbers, definitely don't miss out on Daiyan!
Evaluation
The attack range bonus ensures that Daiyan stays put instead of trying to move around, which is very appreciated due to how positioning-dependent Daiyan is.
The piercing shot increases her AoE damage output by a little bit, but it's nothing crazy.
[Concordia]: Abilities can now deal Critical Damage based on ally Doll's own Critical Rate.
Evaluation
Because this lets anyone crit with their skill, Daiyan provides insane utility in the correct team with dolls who have high damage ratios on their skill, but cannot crit inherently. Deals a decent amount of AoE damage by itself too.
Since the buff lasts 9 seconds and the skill's CD is 16 seconds, Angela is a common unit to pair with Daiyan for maximum uptime.
[Concordia]: Abilities can now deal Critical Damage based on ally Doll's own Critical Rate.
Evaluation
Daiyan's ultimate does decent damage, but it's nothing to write home about unless you really need Daiyan to apply her buff and would rather spend an ultimate bar instead of some tactical points to recharge her skill.
The untargetability does not prevent Daiyan from taking AoE damage.
Teambuilding
This option focuses on maximizing Kuro's insane burst damage with her Auto Skill, and foregoes everything else. Angela is highly recommended to add to improve Daiyan's buff uptime and let Kuro spam her skill more. Play by stacking +Hashrate functions and protocols and ignore Daiyan's DPS and ATK stat.
Members:
β’ Mandatory: Kuro, Daiyan
β’ Highly Recommended: Angela
β’ Add a tank & medic to round out the team
Try to get at least 60% total Crit Rate on Kuro before running this team, otherwise she won't crit often enough.
Option 2: Physical Snipers
More balanced DPS, scales better
Chanzhi Sockdolanger
This option spreads out the DPS between multiple ATK-based Snipers, potentially a warrior (assuming you can fit one in). Because this team is based on ATK instead of Hashrate, it scales significantly better with functions, but a future event welfare Sniper unit (Sockdolager) will make this team type far stronger than it is now.
Members:
β’ Mandatory: Daiyan
β’ Core DPS: Sockdolager, Chanzhi
β’ Other possible units: Rise, Angela, any ATK Sniper, any ATK Warrior
β’ Add a tank & medic to round out the team
You can actually test this team comp out in Daiyan's event (since there's a support Sockdolager in one of the stages)!
FAQ and Notes on Teambuilding/Mechanics
Q: When do I use Delta.V over a crit-related set for Daiyan's Special algorithms?
A: Delta.V and Skill Haste is only really useful if you don't have Angela on your team.If you use Angela, then Daiyan's buff will have 100% uptime anyway without needing the Skill Haste, meaning you can invest into Crit/Crit Damage for more DPS without much downside.
Q: Is it a bad idea to use units who can already crit by themselves? They don't benefit from the [Concordia] buff.
A: It's perfectly fine to use those units! Maximizing the benefit from Daiyan's buff is not actually important, since many of the units who can inherently crit or don't have a skill that crits (Betty, Lam, Aki, etc.) have high enough DPS that they end up being the best-in-slot pick anyway, depending on what units you have available.
Q: Why not use Max or Hubble instead of Kuro?
A: They can work, but their skill ratios aren't much higher than the numbers on units who can inherently crit, making the investment's value dubious at best. Getting enough Crit & Crit Damage on Algorithms is actually very difficult, and Kuro's ability to hypercarry by herself makes her the most optimal candidate to sink resources into.
Q: Can damage from passives crit with the [Concordia] buff?
A: No.
